The purpose of this seminar is to master effective use of the STL, not to cover every aspect of the library.
The companion reference book (see below) provides a comprehensive summary of the contents of the STL, so the seminar focuses on topics such as these:
Reference Book:
Each participant receives an STL reference book - Nicolai M. Josuttis' "The C++ Standard Library". Josuttis' book covers the entire standard library.
Audience:
This seminar is designed for practicing C++ programmers, but the material it covers is also important for system architects, library designers, team leads, and technical managers for C++ systems that will or may take advantage of the STL. Previous exposure to the STL is not necessary, but you should be familiar with templates and operator overloading in C++.
Difficulty Level:
Beginning STL programmers, but participants should be experienced C++ programmers who are comfortable with the basics of templates and operator overloading.
Format:
Lectures and hands-on programming.
Duration:
5 days.
